Hello, my name is Carol Pirsztuk, Executive Director of the El Segundo Education Foundation (ESEF)(Ed!). ESEF and El Segundo Unified School District (ESUSD) would like to thank the community for its continued support. As a community based non-profit, we at ESEF believe that the “who, what, why, and how” of the foundation should be transparent, and all community members feel connected. To achieve this goal, we have prepared a list of Q&A’s that we will be posting on our FB and website over the next few days. We hope this information is beneficial and we look forward to working together as a community. We encourage people to ask questions and leave comments. Question 1 of 8: Who is Ed!? ESEF is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer board including parents, community members, local business partners and a small staff. In addition to the board, ESEF has liaisons from the School Board, PTA, School District, and City Council.
The El Segundo Education
Foundation appoints Carol Pirsztuk, Interim
Executive Director
El Segundo, Calif., December 22, 2011
– The El Segundo Education Foundation (Ed!) will start the New Year with a new
leader for the foundation. The foundation has appointed Carol Pirsztuk as
interim executive director to continue its mission to raise funds to support
and enhance programs at the El Segundo Unified School District (ESUSD).
The previous executive director, Adam Aberman has moved onto new opportunities.
The foundation wishes Adam success in the future.
The foundation has pledged $750,000
to ESUSD for this school year. These funds have enabled the district to
continue offering 17 programs that were either scheduled to be scaled back or
eliminated due to the State of California budget cuts. Carol’s focus in the
next few months will be to continue to raise the funds for the foundation to
honor that pledge.
Richard Lundquist, ESEF Chairman stated
“Carol is well qualified to lead the foundation. She is a graduate of El
Segundo High School and Loyola Marymount with a BA in Economics and a BBA in
Business Administration. Carol’s most recent position was as a vice
president, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment where she managed sales planning,
analytics, reporting, merchandising, communications and budgeting for the
company. We are delighted that Carol has agreed to accept this position.”
Carol is also the co-owner of two
businesses in El Segundo, The Glass Idea Company and Kelly’s School of Irish
Dance. She is a member of the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce, a board member of
the Middle School PTA and currently responsible for the “Boost Your School”
Campaign for Ed!
Carol Pirstztuk stated, “I grew up in
El Segundo and my children are students in ESUSD. My family directly benefits
from the excellent education provided by the school district. I am proud to
lead the foundation as we meet the challenges to provide a 21st
century education for the children of El Segundo.” Carol will focus on open
communication between the community and the foundation. “I am committed to work
with parents, businesses and the community to meet the challenges of overcoming
the significant budget cuts the district has experienced during the past five
years.”
The foundation will begin the search
for a permanent executive director and hopes to fill the position within the
next few months.
Thank You Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk for all of your Support!!!
A very special thanks to everyone who participated this weekend in the Skechers Friendship Walk. El Segundo may be small, but we were mighty in spirit! Everyone from our cheerleaders that kept us going in Hermosa to our Ed! signs that were carried from Pier to Pier and out-shined every other school.
This was a huge success! Thank you!!!
